He comes to cuddle every single morning.
A man who police say tried to defend a group of women from catcallers landed in the hospital after he was brutally assaulted in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square early Saturday morning.
Police say the 39-year-old man who was visiting from Texas was walking along 18th and Walnut Streets around 2:45 a.m. when he observed several men inside a Black Nissan pull up next to a group of women.
The men inside the Nissan began taunting and catcalling the women, according to investigators, prompting the victim to get involved.
"The male victim took offense to something that the guys were saying to the girls and said ‘hey, watch what you’re saying,’" said Philadelphia Police Captain George Fuchs.
Police say one of the men inside the Nissan then got out of the car and punched the victim once in the head. The man was knocked unconscious after he fell and struck his head on the concrete
The suspect then ran back into the Nissan which fled west on Walnut. The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital where he is currently in stable condition.
"This is a tragic, tragic story," Captain Fuchs said. "Here’s a guy trying to stick up for these girls and he gets victimized."
Police say the suspect’s Nissan had Delaware tags. They are currently looking through surveillance video to see if they can find the license plate number. They are also speaking to a witness at Central Detectives.
And people wonder why women don’t “just say something” when faced with street harassment. This is terrible.
he got ONE punch for saying ONE SENTENCE to defend the girls, and he wasnt even involved. Imagine if the girls had rejected the men in the car and talked back to them.
PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE THIS.
This Thursday, Scotland votes for its independence.
The BBC is trying to report that Yes to Independence is losing. They’re using photos to imply our gatherings are tiny and insignificant instead of the many photos like those above. They’re reporting that an anti-independence march by the Orange Order (think the KKK with more British flags) was a peaceful pro-union family march. They have been caught editing clips to discredit our First Minister.
There is a protest outside BBC headquarters right now. They are claiming there are a maximum of 350 protesters.
Watch for yourself. There are far more people outside their offices right now and they are being ignored and misreported.
We need to be seen. The only way we’ve been able to disseminate accurate information has been through social media. The media we rely on to spread unbiased information is lying to us, trying to suppress us.
PLEASE SHARE. PLEASE TALK ABOUT THIS. WE NEED OUR VOICES TO BE HEARD.

Things like this are the reason that:
- her new album has few love songs
- she told Rolling Stone that she doesn’t date anymore
- she finds it necessary to make fun of herself every chance she gets
- why “Shake it Off” exists
- why she DOESN’T DATE ANYMORE
- why she refuses to date even though it’s her own personal life
- did i mention that she doesn’t allow herself to date anymore lol
This isn’t funny. This is fucking disgusting. Sure, she looks like she’s shrugging it off like a joke. I get that it’s a joke. So does she. But do people not understand that Taylor Alison Swift’s entire future is basically ruined? She has dated six people in her entire eight year career. Six. Not fifteen in the last year. Not twelve. Not six people in eight months. Six people in eight YEARS. Still, though, she seems to get slammed for it by every media outlet, by every award show host, by every country music fan, by every One Direction fan, by every person who reads any magazine where they pull information out of their asses to get money. They have no problem ruining someone’s reputation for money.
Taylor Swift is a twenty-four year old girl who will eventually need someone to spend the rest of her life with. How is that going to happen now? Not only does Taylor get bashed, but any male she is seen with gets bashed. Taylor could be seen with her brother and get slammed for having a new boyfriend. Sorry, HollywoodLife, but I don’t think Taylor’s very much into incest.
Whoever decides to date Taylor is going to get shit on by magazines and people everywhere. “Haha, bro, watch out. She might write a song about you” will probably be the end to every article about her future boyfriend and her relationship. Maybe some man out there will be able to brush that off, but what the fuck?
A twenty-four year old girl with a heart of absolute gold shouldn’t be forced to go through that. She is trying to live her dream while leaving the greatest impact on the world she possibly can, and now she has to control what she released, who she dates, who she’s seen with, and basically just control every single little aspect of her life. I get that it’s the life of a celebrity, but take Adam Levine for example. He’s a great guy. He’s also idolized by women everywhere. He’s had more girlfriends in his career than Taylor. Do you hear about that?
Get rid of the double standard; let Taylor Swift live her life without the rumors, the jokes, and the hate. As someone who Taylor has impacted positively, it’s just really fucking annoying.
You know when you’re in class with someone who has no idea what the fuck they’re talking about? That’s what being a Taylor Swift fan is like, everywhere. Turn on the TV, false information. Open a magazine, false information. Scroll through Twitter, false information.
Instead of making jokes about Taylor’s relationship-life, why don’t they make fun of her for, I don’t know, something harmless? Tell her she’s addicted to Instagram because she is sometimes seen up at 4 in the morning commenting paragraph upon paragraph of comforting messages to tweens who are dealing with things they don’t know how to deal with.
Protesters from across St Louis turned up and turned out for the first St Louis County Council Meeting since Mike Brown’s Death. (Part I)
The St Louis County Council wasn’t as bad as Ferguson’s Council, but still very few answers and virtually no accountability from the folks who unleashed unholy hell on the residents of Ferguson, following Brown’s murder. #staywoke #farfromover
why yes there is
bear in mind that i’m fully aware that france is a colonizer just like great-britain and québécois people have white privilege and therefore the oppression québécois face/faced is in no way on the same level as the oppression poc face
that being said
Quebec (which was then a french colony) got dumped by the mère patrie dear old france and was taken over by the british in the late 1700s. quebeccers weren’t happy about this and naturally, the english wanted to keep them in check, which they did by associating with the catholic church among other things. the clergy encouraged the quebecois not to revolt, work hard and make babies. they would go as far as including anti-patriotes (quebecois revoltees) speeches in their sermon. please note that the patriotes who died fighting the british were not allowed to be buried in a proper grave.
the upper class was almost exclusively anglo, and that started to change like in the 60s thanks to the quiet revolution which isn’t a long time ago. one of the worst thing they did to us is the -forced déportation of the acadian people (french people who live in what is now New Brunswick) in 1755. The anglos burned their houses and their fields, making sure they had nothing to come back to. They captured them by circling catholic churches on sunday morning. Men who resisted saw their family threatened with weapons. They didn’t inform the acadian as to where they were deported, most of them never saw their friends and families again. (fun fact : some of them were brought to the united states and became tge cajun people. the song evangeline mentionned in the princess and the frog is about two acadian lovers separated by the deportation, it’s a really old song and it explains how it happened)
now our language and culture are somewhat protected in quebec through laws, like bill 101 (all signs must be written in french, the language spoken in big companies must be french, a customer has the absolute right to be served in french (which isn’t always the case in montreal as of now).
some things happening today which results from the power imbalance between francos and anglos (there are french people living everywhere in canada and their deal is much rawer because they are a small minority over there) :
-québécois/french canadian self-hate (ex. our french is different from france’s, we have a lot of different expressions and words, our syntax isn’t always the same, we have a unique accent, and lots of québécois look down on the way we speak, saying it isn’t “good” french, we sound stupid, we should speak an “international french” when in reality our french is just as different from france’s as american engish is from british english and both dialects are considered valid.)
-crazed anglo tries to murder the first separatist prime minister elected in 10 years in 2012 (she is also the first woman prime minister, and i’m sure it’s no coincidence that the first lady pm is also the first to face a murder attempt)
-various quebec bashing in magazines and tv shows and living rooms across canada, you should see them when the separatist party is elected, they’re terrified and full of hate, their discourse reeks of “we have to keep the colonies in check” and it’s both hilarious and upsetting. i’ve seen anti-quebec memes on tumblr very often, with super nice reactions like “lol quebeccers are the worst”, it’s very common. i’ve been attacked on various websites after i said i was from montreal.
so yeah after a long hard day of serving anglo people in their language, trying not to have to big of an accent because wealthy anglos love to go to my boss and complain that our english isn”t good enough. (like, i wrote all this, evidently my english is very good. once a lady complained about me because i didn’t know how to say the word danoise in english. it’s danish, i know now.) i love to anglo-shame them
(the first time i’ve seen this term, it was in an article in the National Post, saying that it wasn’t fair that politicians have to be bilingual because it’s anglo-shaming. i spat my drink laughing and i’ll never forget. ah. anglos.)
Ravenclaws with huge communal bookshelfs that tower to the ceiling. It’s become tradition that when you leave Hogwarts, you leave behind a copy of your favorite book, so they have books dating back centuries.
SO MANY MUGGLE NOVELS CONTAINING NO MAGICAL ABILITIES WHATSOEVER AND THE WIZARDS READING THEM AND GETTING THEIR MINDS BLOWN
Down the back corner of the far shelf sits a modern reprint of Newton’s Principia Mathematica. The prefects take it from the curious first years’ hands, chuckling. “You’re not ready for that one yet,” they say. “In another life, you might be, but in this castle, it’s going to be triply hard to understand. Let me recommend you some background reading first.”
Pride of place is Tolkein’s The Lord of the Rings, and it’s somewhat of an initiation ritual for purebloods to read it. The older students take bets on how long it will take each student to realise it’s not a history book.
The Shakespeare collection is quite large, and there’s an unofficial rule against enchanted translations of it. This came about when one frustrated reading group poring over Romeo and Juliet enchanted the book to read a modern, context-aware translation aloud, and filled the Common Room with vulgar swearing and dick jokes until somebody managed to shut it off. People still remark that the puns were pretty damn clever.
